Guidelines & Application

The file below contains program guidelines for all students applying for the USRG program. Please read this document carefully and follow all instructions.

  • If you prefer a paper-based application, send a request to USRG@tamu.edu

The deadline to submit the USRG application is 5:00 pm, February 3, 2010.

Application Packet Requirements
  1. Completed application – submit online
  2. Personal Statement (minimum 500 words) – submit online
    • Why do you want to participate in the USRG program?
    • What is your objective in participating in the USRG program? What do you hope to gain?
    • Describe any previous or current research experience.
    • Describe your research area(s) of interests within your field
  3. Two (2) recommendation letters
    • Recommendations can be sent via postal mail, email, dropped off, or faxed (see contact information below).
    • Letters should be written by a professor or supervisor under whom you have studied, taught or worked, and who is able to provide insight to your ability, potential, and qualifications to succeed in a summer research program.
  4. Official transcript
    Must be sent via postal mail or dropped off to the address below. DO NOT send official transcripts to the TAMU Admissions Office.
Selection

All completed application packets will be reviewed by respective department selection committees, including, but not limited to, the department head, associate head, undergraduate advisor, graduate advisor, and faculty representatives. Final selections will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Graduate Program Coordinator in the Dwight Look College of Engineering.

• Acceptance announcements will be made at the end of February 2010.

Deadline

February 3, 2010 by 5:00 pm
• Complete application packets must be received by this deadline. Application materials received after this deadline will not be considered.
